The implementation of the Otitis Media Clinical Care Guidelines program has been evaluated.
The pilot project rolled out across eight sites was to enhance the capacity of GPs and other primary health care providers to provide high quality treatment for otitis media in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children
The specific strategy to achieve this aim was to promote to GPs and others involved in providing health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to adopt the evidence-based best practice set out in the updated Recommendations for Clinical Care Guidelines on the Management of Otitis Media in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Populations.
The evaluation was conducted by Dr Elizabeth McDonald, Menzies School of Health Research, Darwin, NT from June 2012 to July 2013 within the eight pilot sites, namely:
* Boab Health Services;
* Focus Health Network;
* Goldfields Midwest Medicare Local;
* GP down south;
* Illawarra Shoalhaven Medicare Local;
* Lower Murray Medicare Local;
* Murrumbidgee Medicare Local; and
* North Coast NSW Medicare Local.
